Correo Urbano de Medellín

In 1903 a local town post was established in Medellin, capital of the Department of Antioquia, by the Sociedad de Mejores Publicas (Committee for Public Improvement), and continued in operation until taken over by the Government.

Local Cover franked with a bisected 1 Peso stamp from the Correo Urbano de Medellin. (Temprano No. 7b) The stamp in question is from the 2nd issue, issued in 1904 and is cancelled with the oval postmark “Correo Urbano de Medellin”.
