Autobuses de Boyacá (Antonio Puerto)

The ”EMPRESA DE AUTOBUSES” founded in 1922 by Antonio Puerto, changed its name in 1925 to ”AUTOBUSES DE BOYACA” and finally in the same year to ”COMPAÑIA DE TRANSPORTES TERRESTRES”. In the beginning, only Handstamps of Duitama, Tunja, Sogamoso and Bogotá are found but later on the routes were extended to Bucaramanga, Cúcuta and Honda.

Cover from Tunja to Bogota, cancelled with the postmark „Autobuses de Boyaca / Agencia de Tunja, dated 7. March 1926 and arrival postmark of the „Compania de Transportes Terrestres / Autobuses Boyaca / Agencia de Bogota“ dated 8. March 1926 and a route marking „Por Autobus“ Nr. 1946.

Covers of this period do not carry any national postage stamps, which was illegal. Covers can only be identified by handstamps as shown on this page. They exist in various colours. Covers are rare and only very few are known.
