Frealon Bibbins 1925-2013

            Collector, author, and student of the stamps and postal history of Tibet, Frealon Norden Bibbins, died July 23, 2013 in Alameda California. He was 88. He was an honorary member of the Nepal and Tibet Philatelic Study Circle and authored several monographs on Tibetan philately including:

A Philatelic Story of Lt. Col. F. M. Bailey, C.I.E. (2003)

Tibet First Series: 1912 Plating Notebook (1992)

Tibet Second Series Circa 1914 (1998)

Tibet Third Series, 1933-60: Plating Study (1993, with Geoffrey Flack)

            He had a distinguished career playing clarinet with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra from 1943 to 1983. He also played in a San Francisco theater orchestra and with the San Francisco Woodwind Quintet. Bibbins studied with the noted clarinetist Reginald Kell, and he also taught clarinet. He owned two dance supply shops in San Rafael and Novato, California.

The Stamp Show 2000 (updated on 31.12.99)
At the London 2000 International, we will be having a meeting of the Circle on Friday 26th May 10.30 - 13.00. 
The first part of the meeting will be an open forum for all members attending to discuss the activities of the Circle.
After the business session Prof. Armand Singer will give a lecture entitled "Nepal and Tibet the Penultimate". He will also be advertising his new book "Officials of Tibet".
We are trying to arrange a dinner venue in the evening of the same day for members to attend. Details have not been finalized yet.
