The below cover from Oman to UK on a Imprinted Envelope is a new discovery. It is franked with 6 1/2 Annas, postmarked Muscat 16 March 1927, on reverse transit postmarks Basrah (Iraq) and Baghdad (Iraq).

The rate of that cover is a mystery for me. The lack of any official Postal Notice from Oman indicating postal rates makes if almost impossible to explain the rate. It is assumed, based on the condition of the cover, it had a weight between 1 and 2 ounce, rate therefore 3 1/2 Annas. Also assumingly, the sender was only aware of the Overland Mail surcharges for Mail originating from Iraq, he added 3 Annas additional postage as Overland Mail surcharge. However, the Overland Mail surcharge for Mail originating in Iraq had been 3 Annas for every 20 Grams so the total rate does not match the rate tables. I appreciate any information on rates of Oman and explanation on the rate of this cover.
