"Nr. 70. Postbeförderung nach Mesopotamien und Südpersien mit der Kraftpost Haifa-Bagdad.
Fortan bietet sich für gewöhnliche und eingeschriebene Briefsendungen jeder Art nach Bagdad, dem übrigen Mesopotamien, den persischen Orten am Persischen Meerbusen und nach Südpersien Gelegenheit zur Beförderung mit der jeden Donnerstag von Haifa über Damaskus nach Bagdad verkehrenden Kraftpost. Die Bp München-Kufstein Zug 50, ab München 9:35 Uhr, wird jeden Donnerstag, erstmals am 31.Januar, einen Briefkartenschluß für Bagdad zur Beförderung mit dieser Kraftpost absenden. Beförderungsdauer von München nach Bagdad etwa 9 bis 10 Tage. Die mit der Kraftpost zu befördernden Sendungen müssen in der oberen linken Ecke den in Auge fallenden Vermerk "By Overland Mail Haifa - Bagdad" tragen.  Dieser Vermerk ist vom Abfertigungsbeamten  mit Rotstift zu unterstreichen. Die Sendungen unterliegen neben der gewöhnlichen Auslandsgebühr einer Zuschlags-gebühr. Diese beträgt 30 Goldpfennig für jede Postkarte und für je 20 g. jeder anderen Sendung. Die Sendungen müssen vollständig freigemacht sein. Ungenügend freigemachte Sendungen werden über Bombay befördert. In der Leitübersicht für Briefsendungen nach außereuropäischen Ländern wird an entsprechender Stelle ein Vermerk aufgenommen werden. 

Die Beförderung von Briefsendungen nach Mesopotamien usw. mit der Luftpost Kairo-Bagdad bleibt bestehen."

No. 70 Postal Service to Mesopotamia and South Persia by the Motorised Mail Haifa-Baghdad

Henceforth there exists the opportunity to convey ordinary and registered mail of every kind to Baghdad, the rest of Mesopotamia, the Persian places on the shores of the Persian Gulf and to South Persia by means of the motorised mail leaving each Thursday from Haifa via Damascus to Baghdad. The mail train Munich - Kufstein Train 50 leaving Munich 9:35, will have a mail bag each Thursday, starting on the 31st January for Baghdad to be carried by this motorised mail. Transit time from Munich to Baghdad is about 9 to 10 days. Mail items for transmission by the motorised mail must bear in the top left corner the clear inscription "By Overland Mail Haifa ­ Baghdad". This instruction must be underlined in red crayon by the despatch clerk. The items are subject to an additional fee in addition to the normal rate abroad. This amounts to 30 Goldpfennig for each postcard and for every 30 grams of other items. Mail items must be fully pre-paid. Insufficiently pre-paid items will be despatched via Bombay. In the directory of mail despatches to countries outside Europe, a note will be inserted at the appropriate place.

The transmission of mails to Mesopotamia etc. by Air Mail Cairo - Bagdad remains in operation.

No. 356. Correspondence for Mesopotamia and Persia (1a/VI A 1260 b).

Correspondence for Mesopotamia and South West Persia which should be transported by the Overland Mail Haifa-Bagdad on request of the sender and which must bear an eye-catching marking  »By Overland Mail Haifa-Bagdad«, are, as of 1^st July, subject to the following surcharges in addition to the ordinary foreign postage rates:

20 Pf. for each Post Card,

30 Pf. for each 20 grams of a letter

15 Pf. per 50 grams of Printed Matter, Samples of Merchandise or of business papers.

Insufficiently franked postal items have to be returned to the sender for additional postage. Such items which do not bear a sender's address have to be forwarded in the ordinary way via Bombay.

Foreign. †) Nr. 146/1929. Letter transport to Iraq (Mesopotamia) (Ia 2463 – 2 Pal.b). The Newspapers and chambers of commerce have been informed about the following:

»In the forwarding of letters to Iraq (Mesopotamia) a significant enhancement will be implemented from mid-April. From this date onwards mail will not be forwarded via Bombay-Basra but without exception via the Desert Motor Mail Damascus-Baghdad which now operates twice a week. The DRP (German Post Office) no longer requires the special surcharge for the use of this way of transport. Also the placing of the special routing instruction »By Overland Mail Haifa-Bagdad« on the address side of the mail is in future no longer required. By the new routing the mail service to Iraq is speeded up by about 14 days.«

In order that the mail will reach the connection with the Desert Motor Mail to Baghdad which leaves Damascus on Tuesdays and Friday, it will be forwarded by the routing offices in closed mail bags for Baghdad by the following opportunities:

1. Fridays via Brindisi-Alexandria by the steam ships of the Trieste Lloyd,

2. Sundays via Marseille-Alexandria by the steam ships of Messageries Maritimes,

3. Tuesdays by the Simplon Orient Express via Constantinople.

For the connections under a und b the mail has to be forwarded to the routing offices in Frankfurt (Main) (railway post office 19) and Munich ( railway post office 1), for the connection under c exclusively to the routing office in Munich ( railway post office 1).

The modification will be included in the Postal Steam Ship list for May.
