Railway station in the west of the city of Baghdad, with lines up to Baiji in the northern part of Iraq and to Maqil in the south of Iraq.

A joint road & rail bridge was opened across the River Tigris in Baghdad in October 1950 so finally connecting the east and west bank metre gauge systems.
